History
Dwamena Akenten Senior High School was established in September 1964 to serve Offinso and nearby communities.
A National Schools Inspectorate Authority report places the school in Offinso Municipality and provides an independent picture of the school and its learning environment.
The Ghana Education Service describes the school as sitting on a 72-acre hilltop site along the Kumasi-Techiman road. Its original purpose was straightforward: give students in and around a predominantly farming community a route into secondary and higher education.
DASS grew from a local access need into a school serving students from well beyond Offinso.
Academics
Students at Dwamena Akenten Senior High School can choose Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts, General Science and Home Economics.
You will notice that The school does not currently offer Visual Arts. That is why it is worth checking the current register rather than assuming every mixed SHS offers the same options.
The Business guide shows what students study in that option at DASS.
Admissions & Entry Guidance
Include Dwamena Akenten Senior High School in your school choices when you apply after BECE. Look at the subjects in Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts, General Science and Home Economics, not only the DASS name.
DASS has day and boarding students, but your placement will say which applies to you. Read it on the CSSPS website.
Facilities
GES records for DASS include classrooms, a science laboratory, a computer laboratory, dining facilities, dormitory blocks and staff accommodation.
The campus is spread across a large site, which gives the school space but also makes maintenance and the condition of individual facilities important.
Student Life
DASS students take part in sport, quizzes, clubs and student leadership alongside normal academic work.
In 2026, Dwamena Akenten was among the schools whose students joined newly inaugurated Justice Clubs in the Ashanti Region. The initiative focused on leadership, rights, responsibility and civic behaviour.
That kind of activity gives students a place to practise the values the school talks about rather than meeting them only in a motto.
Accommodation
Dwamena Akenten Senior High School runs day and boarding arrangements. Day students leave after school activities, while DASS boarders continue with meals and evening study on campus.
Your DASS placement will tell you whether you are joining as a boarder or a day student.
