St. Louis Senior High School, Kumasi
About St. Louis Senior High School, Kumasi
St. Louis Senior High School was created in Kumasi at a time when far fewer girls than boys were reaching secondary school. The Catholic school opened in 1952 and grew into a large girls' day-and-boarding community at Oduom, close to KNUST.
Students are often described as Pacesetters, while past students belong to SLOPSA. The school uses the motto Ut Sint Unum, Dieu Le Veult, meaning "May they all be one, God wills it."
The options at St. Louis SHS are Business, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics and Visual Arts; compare their subjects on the programme pages.

History
St. Louis grew out of a Catholic effort to expand secondary education for girls in the Gold Coast. Church leaders had become increasingly concerned that girls were being left behind as secondary education expanded.
The school's official history explains how the Diocese of Kumasi and the St. Louis Sisters developed the school in 1952, with the education of girls at the centre of the project.
The Catholic foundation shaped more than religious life. Discipline, service and education for the whole person became part of how St. Louis described its purpose.
The school was built around a very practical idea: girls deserved the same serious educational opportunities being created for boys.
Academics
St. Louis prepares students for the WASSCE through Business, Home Economics, Visual Arts, General Arts and General Science.
The school's own programme information shows how different those programmes can become once you look beneath the headings. Business combines accounting and management subjects, while General Science centres on Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Elective Mathematics.
Before choosing General Science at St. Louis SHS, read the General Science guide and check the subject mix.

Facilities
St. Louis supports a large day-and-boarding population, so classrooms and laboratories are only part of the campus story. Dining, residential, sanitation, creative and activity spaces all affect daily life.
Past students have repeatedly stepped into that work. A Graphic Online report documents an alumni-funded incinerator and waste-management support intended to improve sanitation around the school.
Student Life
St. Louis students are commonly described as Pacesetters, and that language is woven into school events, leadership and old-girl culture.
The alumni network is known as SLOPSA. One example of how far that identity travels can be seen in the Ghanaian Young Professionals UK story, whose co-founder describes her own SLOPSA connection and the value she found in alumni mentoring and community.
Within school, clubs, sport, worship, student leadership and house life create different ways to belong outside the classroom.
