About Kumasi High School
Kumasi High School has a slightly unusual beginning. Its story starts with a private school established by S. K. Amoah before the school became a public secondary school and eventually took the name Kumasi High School.
The school is for boys, students are widely known as Mmeranteɛ, and the motto is "Truth Conquers." KUHIS has built a strong identity around academics, debate, sport and the old-boy community that grew from its Gyinyase campus.
Students at KUHIS can choose Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts and General Science, with the programme pages showing what each choice covers.

History
Kumasi High School developed from a private school started by S. K. Amoah in the early 1960s. The school was initially known as Kwame Nkrumah Secondary School before later taking its current name.
A detailed KUHIS profile traces the transition to public secondary education and the move to the permanent Gyinyase site in 1977.
The school's identity grew alongside that move. KUHIS, Mmeranteɛ and the motto "Truth Conquers" became the language through which generations of students described the school.
The history is a reminder that a well-known public school can begin from a much smaller private initiative.
Academics
The current school register lists four WASSCE options at Kumasi High: Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts and General Science.
KUHIS has a public reputation for academic competition, particularly in science, mathematics, business and debate, but those achievements sit on top of ordinary classroom work.
Use the Business guide to compare Business with the other options at KUHIS.
Admissions & Entry Guidance
Include Kumasi High School in your school choices when you apply after BECE. Check whether the KUHIS programmes (Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts and General Science) include the subjects you want.
Check the CSSPS website for your KUHIS result. If you are placed at KUHIS, the result will say whether you are a day student or a boarder.
Facilities
The Gyinyase campus has continued to change as the school has grown. Academic blocks, science facilities, boarding houses and sports spaces all form part of the environment students use.
A Ghana News Agency report on the school's anniversary noted a new assembly hall, classroom block and upgrades to the science laboratory.
When considering Kumasi High School, ask about the facilities used by students in your chosen programme.
Student Life
Kumasi High students are known as Mmeranteɛ, or Gentlemen. The name carries expectations about conduct, but it also functions as a strong old-boy identity after students leave the school.
A Citi Newsroom feature from a school careers event shows old students returning to speak directly with current students about work, ambition and life after SHS.
Sport, debate, clubs, competitions and student leadership give students several routes into school life beyond lessons.
Accommodation
Kumasi High School has both day and boarding students. Boarders at KUHIS stay on campus for meals and evening study, while day students go home after school activities.
When your KUHIS placement arrives, look for the part that says day or boarding.
