Kumasi Wesley Girls' High School
About Kumasi Wesley Girls' High School
Kumasi Wesley Girls' High School began with a much smaller ambition than the school it has become. Methodist leaders in Kumasi wanted a secondary school that families could access without the cost of sending their children away to boarding school. The idea eventually became a school in 1979.
Today it is an all-girls day-and-boarding school. The motto, "Arise and Shine", comes from Isaiah 60:1 and sits alongside a Methodist emphasis on faith, discipline, confidence and service.
You can study Business, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics and Visual Arts at Kumasi Wesley Girls; check the programme pages to see how the options differ.

History
The idea behind Kumasi Wesley Girls dates back to Methodist discussions about creating a secondary school in Kumasi for families who could not easily afford boarding education elsewhere.
The school's official history records how Rev. De Graft Johnson eventually opened the school in 1979 with just 11 students.
The school passed through several names, including Methodist Day Secondary School, Wesley Day Secondary School and Mmofraturo Girls' Secondary School, before becoming Kumasi Wesley Girls' High School.
The name changes tell the story of a school that gradually became more clearly focused on girls' education.

That matters because school life should give you room to test interests you may not yet have turned into a career plan.
