Mfantsiman Girls' Senior High School
About Mfantsiman Girls' Senior High School
Mfantsiman Girls' Senior High School was established in 1960 as Saltpond Girls' Secondary School, part of a deliberate effort to expand educational opportunity for girls in Ghana. The school opened with 70 students and four teachers before growing into one of the country's best-known girls' schools.
Students are often called Syte girls, while old students organise through MOGA. The motto, Ɔbra Nye Woara Abɔ, means "Life is what you make it," a fitting message for a school built around initiative, discipline and female education.
Students at Mfantsiman Girls can choose Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics and Visual Arts, with the programme pages showing what each choice covers.

History
Mfantsiman Girls opened on 30 September 1960 with 70 students and four teachers led by Mrs. Beatrice Ahine Chinery. It was originally called Saltpond Girls' Secondary School.
The school's official history explains that Kwame Nkrumah established the school as a gesture of appreciation to the people of Saltpond, particularly the women who had played important roles in Ghana's political history.
The name later changed to Mfantsiman Girls as the surrounding district developed into the Mfantseman area. The school grew from a relatively small first intake into a much larger community of students and old girls.
The school's origin makes girls' education central to the story, not something added later.
Academics
Mfantsiman Girls prepares students for the WASSCE through Agricultural Science, Business, Home Economics, Visual Arts, General Arts and General Science.
The six programmes create very different programme choices. Science and Agricultural Science demand sustained work in mathematics and practical science, while Visual Arts and Home Economics rely more heavily on creative and applied work.
The General Science guide shows what students study in that option at Mfantsiman Girls.

Facilities
Mfantsiman Girls has grown steadily from its original campus. Its facilities now include academic blocks, science and ICT spaces, residential facilities, a sewing centre, dining facilities and a large assembly hall.
The school's facilities page gives a useful picture of how those spaces are used, rather than presenting them as a simple checklist.
Student Life
Student life at Mfantsiman Girls reaches well beyond the classroom. The school has long supported cadet activity, sport, band, debating, drama, parliamentary activities and other clubs.
The old-girl network is equally visible. A Ghana News Agency report on MOGA shows how organised old students continue to support the school through leadership, projects and alumni coordination.
That relationship matters because it gives current students a visible community of women who passed through the same school and continue to invest in it.
