OLA Girls Senior High School, Ho
About OLA Girls Senior High School, Ho
OLA Girls Senior High School, Ho began in 1954 with just 35 students. It was established by Bishop Anthony Konings and entrusted to the Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles, giving the school a Catholic identity that has remained visible through decades of girls' education.
The motto, Vitam Praesta Puram, is commonly translated as "Grant us a pure life." Past students organise through POGA, and that old-girl network continues to play an active role in the school.
Students at OLA Girls SHS can choose Business, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics and Visual Arts, with the programme pages showing what each choice covers.

History
OLA Girls was established on 1 February 1954 by Bishop Anthony Konings, then Catholic Bishop of the Keta Diocese. The school first opened in Keta as Queen of Apostles Secondary School with 35 students.
The Past OLA Girls Association history records how the Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles administered the school and how the school later developed in Ho.
The move gave Catholic girls in the Volta Region a closer route to secondary education at a time when many families otherwise had to send daughters much farther away.
OLA's history is closely tied to the belief that girls deserved serious academic opportunity without having to leave the region to find it.
Academics
OLA Girls prepares students for the WASSCE through Business, Home Economics, Visual Arts, General Arts and General Science.
The programme list gives you several very different routes. General Science is built around stronger science and mathematics demands, while Visual Arts and Home Economics include more practical work alongside theory.
The General Science guide shows what students study in that option at OLA Girls SHS.

Facilities
OLA Girls supports a large day-and-boarding population, so classrooms and laboratories are only part of the campus picture. Dormitories, dining space, furniture, sanitation and staff support also affect daily life.
A Ghana News Agency report documented a POGA-backed 700-bed dormitory project and also recorded pressure on accommodation, classrooms, dining space and laboratory equipment.
Student Life
OLA's Catholic identity is visible in school values, worship and the long relationship with the Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles. Student life also includes sport, clubs, leadership, competitions and service.
The school community remains closely connected to old girls. A Volta Regional Coordinating Council report on the school's speech day shows alumnae supporting awards while students were encouraged to think seriously about entrepreneurship and life beyond school.
