About St. John's Senior High, Sekondi
St. John's Senior High in Sekondi is one of the long-established Catholic boys' schools in the Western Region. It opened in 1952 during the expansion of secondary education in the Gold Coast and developed a strong identity around faith, discipline and service.
Students and old boys are widely known as the Saints. The motto, Viam Parantes, means "Preparing the Way" and fits a school culture that expects students to think about what they are becoming, not only the examinations in front of them.
Students choosing St. John's School can take Business, General Arts, General Science and Visual Arts; the programme pages make the differences easier to see.

History
St. John's was founded by the Roman Catholic Church on 29 January 1952 as a private secondary school in Sekondi. It became the first secondary school established in the Western Region.
A current school profile records the 1952 foundation and the school's continuing Catholic, all-boys identity.
The school is closely associated with St. John the Evangelist, while generations of past students use the name Old Saints. That identity has survived changes in Ghana's education system and the school's transition into the public senior high structure.
St. John's history is not only about age. It is about a Catholic school tradition that has remained recognisable across generations.
Academics
The current school register lists Business, Visual Arts, General Arts and General Science at St. John's.
That four-programme list means you should check your option carefully before selecting the school. Home Economics, Agricultural Science and STEM are not part of the current verified list.
Read the General Science guide before putting General Science at St. John's School on your school list.

Facilities
The school operates as a boys' day-and-boarding school, so its campus supports classrooms, a library, boarding houses, dining, worship and clubs and other activities.
Old Saints have continued to invest in the school. The official alumni portal documents projects around the soccer field, basketball facilities and the school wall.
When considering St. John's Senior High, Sekondi, ask about the facilities used by students in your chosen programme.
Student Life
"The Saints" is more than a nickname at St. John's. It links current students to a large old-boy community and to a Catholic identity built around discipline, service and belonging.
Sport, clubs, academic competition and student leadership create other ways to take part. The school's basketball and National Science and Maths Quiz culture are especially visible parts of that wider student experience.
