Sunyani Senior High School
About Sunyani Senior High School
Sunyani Senior High School, widely known as SUSEC, was established in 1960 as one of the Ghana Education Trust schools created during the country's early post-independence expansion of secondary education.
The first intake was only 36 students, with 31 boys and five girls. The school has grown far beyond that beginning, but its motto, Me Man Nti, Enye Me Nti, still points students towards a simple idea: education should serve the country as well as the individual.
You can study Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics, STEM and Visual Arts at SUSEC; check the programme pages to see how the options differ.

History
SUSEC was established in 1960 as part of the Ghana Education Trust school programme. The school admitted its first 36 students on 30 October 1960 and was formally inaugurated by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in December of that year.
The school's official history records that those first students were taught by only three teachers, supported by nine non-teaching staff.
That early co-educational school later passed through a period as a boys' school before girls were admitted again.
SUSEC's history is really a story of scale: a small trust school becoming a major mixed senior high school without losing the public-service idea behind its foundation.
Academics
The current register lists Agricultural Science, Business, Home Economics, Visual Arts, General Arts, General Science and STEM at SUSEC.
The STEM option matters because it gives students an engineering-oriented option alongside the more familiar General Science route.

Admissions & Entry Guidance
Entry to Sunyani Senior High School starts with the choices you make after BECE. Look at the subjects in Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics, STEM and Visual Arts, not only the SUSEC name.
SUSEC has day and boarding students, but your placement will say which applies to you. Read it on the CSSPS website.
Facilities
SUSEC is a large day-and-boarding school, so expansion has to cover classrooms, science work, dormitories, sanitation and health care rather than only adding more teaching rooms.
A Ghana News Agency report documented major projects including a 12-unit classroom block, a science laboratory, toilet facilities and new dormitories for boys and girls.
Student Life
SUSEC students study within a culture that places patriotism, excellence, teamwork, discipline and integrity among the school's stated values.
The old-student network, SOSA, remains visibly involved in school development. Alumni groups support projects ranging from furniture and security improvements to plans for a dedicated school clinic.
Sport, clubs, leadership, academic competition and STEM activities give students additional ways to develop beyond formal lessons.
Accommodation
Sunyani Senior High School takes day students as well as boarders. Meals, evening study and dormitory routines are part of the week for boarders at SUSEC.
Check the wording on your SUSEC placement so you know whether to prepare for day or boarding school.
