Institution guide

History

Toase Senior High School was established in 1971 in Toase Township. Its location along the Abuakwa-Bibiani road placed it within reach of communities that needed a senior high school closer to home.

The Ghana Education Service annual digest records the school's establishment, location and original mission of widening access to sound academic and moral education.

That access story still matters. Toase has grown from a local secondary-school project into a much larger school serving students from beyond the immediate catchment area.

The school began because proximity matters in education. A good secondary school is far more useful when families can realistically reach it.

Academics

Toase prepares students for the WASSCE through Agricultural Science, Business, Home Economics, Visual Arts, General Arts and General Science.

The six options are not small variations of the same experience. A General Science student will spend far more time on laboratory science and mathematics, while Visual Arts and Home Economics include substantial practical work.

Before choosing Agricultural Science at Toase SHS, read the Agricultural Science guide and check the subject mix.

Facilities

The Ghana Education Service has documented a large classroom base at Toase, together with a science laboratory, library, computer laboratory and several dormitories.

The old-student community is also working on practical needs. The Toase SHS Old Students Association is running a desk project intended to improve everyday classroom conditions for students.

Student Life

Toase students take part in sport, clubs, debate, school leadership and activities that connect the school with the surrounding community.

One recent example is a Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital blood-donation campaign that included Toase among the senior high schools being engaged to support the regional blood bank.

The old-student association also creates a bridge between current students and people who passed through the same school years earlier.

Accommodation

Toase Senior High School has both day and boarding students. Boarders at Toase SHS stay on campus for meals and evening study, while day students go home after school activities.

When your Toase SHS placement arrives, look for the part that says day or boarding.
