About Abuakwa State College
Abuakwa State College, widely known as ABUSCO, has roots stretching back to 1936, when three Methodist elders at Asafo-Akyem created a preparatory school for students seeking the Junior Cambridge examination. The school was moved to Kyebi the following year as its role widened beyond one community.
The school motto, Susubiribi, is commonly interpreted as a call to think ahead, aim at something worthy and act with purpose.
ABUSCO has Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics and Visual Arts, and the programme pages can help you compare the subject combinations.

History
The roots of Abuakwa State College go back to 1936, when three Methodist elders at Asafo-Akyem established a preparatory school for students preparing for the Junior Cambridge examination.
A Graphic Online account of the school's history records that the school was later relocated to Kyebi so it could serve the broader interests of students across Akyem Abuakwa.
Other anniversary histories place the Kyebi foundation stone in 1937 and describe ABUSCO as the first public secondary school established in the Eastern Region.
The distinction is useful: the school traces its origins to Asafo-Akyem in 1936, while the Kyebi school that became Abuakwa State College took shape from the relocation and foundation work that followed.

Facilities
ABUSCO's facilities have expanded repeatedly as the student population has grown. Government projects have included classroom blocks, campus roads, computers and transport, while alumni groups continue to add their own projects.
The 2001 year group recently launched plans for a multipurpose basketball and volleyball court designed to improve sport and recreation for current students.
Student Life
Old Abuscodians have a strong identity around the school, and Susubiribi is central to that culture.
The motto has been interpreted in several related ways: think ahead, aim high, choose what is worthy and consider carefully what you do or say. That makes it more useful as a standard for judgement than as a slogan to memorise.
Sport, leadership, mentoring and alumni-supported projects give current students other ways to participate in school life.
Accommodation
Abuakwa State College has both day and boarding students. Boarders at ABUSCO stay on campus for meals and evening study, while day students go home after school activities.
Residential life gives you more time inside the school community, but it also makes dormitory routines, sanitation and shared responsibility part of the experience.
Your ABUSCO placement will tell you whether you are joining as a boarder or a day student.
