History

Kpando Senior High was established on 26 January 1953 as Kpando Day Secondary School under Ghana's Accelerated Development Plan for Education.

A history reported during the school's anniversary preparations records the 1953 establishment and the motto Lux et Veritas.

The school began with nine students and later developed boarding facilities as enrolment expanded. Old students are organised through KOSA, the Kpando Secondary School Old Students Association.

KPASEC's story begins with a tiny day school and becomes the story of a school that kept expanding as secondary education reached more families in the Volta Region.

Facilities

KPASEC's growth has created a continuing need for learning space, furniture and modern technology facilities.

During the school's 70th-anniversary preparations, a GBC Ghana report documented plans by KOSA to support a robotics and cybersecurity centre, refurbish the ICT centre and strengthen science learning.

Old students have also provided desks, teachers' furniture, streetlights and a mechanised borehole for a boys' dormitory.

Student Life

KOSA gives current students a visible connection to generations of KPASEC graduates. Alumni support goes beyond anniversary speeches and includes practical projects around teaching, accommodation and technology.

Students also participate in sport, clubs, leadership, science activities and academic competition.

The motto Lux et Veritas asks students to connect learning with truthfulness rather than treating academic success as the only measure of a good education.
