About Oti Boateng Senior High

Oti Boateng Senior High, widely known as OBOSS, emerged from the educational reforms that reshaped Ghana's school system around the end of the 1980s. The senior secondary school opened in 1991 at Ada-Koforidua and built on an earlier local school history in the community.

The phrase "Knowledge with Integrity" is closely associated with OBOSS. It is a useful standard because knowledge without judgement or honesty is not enough for the kind of responsibility students eventually carry outside school.

OBOSS gives students a choice of Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics and Visual Arts; the programme pages set out the subjects in each one.

History

The senior secondary school now known as Oti Boateng Senior High officially opened on 21 January 1991 with 25 students.

The school's published history traces a longer local educational story through Nsukwao and Ada, including the earlier junior secondary school that preceded the senior school.

That background explains why OBOSS is both relatively young as an SHS and rooted in a community whose demand for local education had been building for much longer.

The important date for the current school is 1991, but the school did not appear from nowhere. It grew out of earlier efforts to keep education accessible within the community.
