About Shama Senior High
Shama Senior High grew out of a local effort to bring second-cycle education closer to families in the Shama area. The school began in the early 1990s after the community took over the premises of an earlier private secondary technical fisheries school.
Today, SHASS is a mixed day-and-boarding school offering Agricultural Science, Business, Home Economics, Visual Arts, General Arts and General Science.
Students at SHASS can choose Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics and Visual Arts, with the programme pages showing what each choice covers.

History
Shama Senior High began in January 1991 as part of the expansion of secondary education that followed Ghana's education reforms.
A school profile traces the school to the former Shama Secondary Technical Fisheries School and explains how the late founder's family released the premises to the community before government added more structures.
That origin matters because SHASS did not simply appear as a finished public school. It grew from an existing local school and a community decision to keep secondary education going.
Academics
Shama Senior High's 6 programmes are Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics and Visual Arts.
That gives you options across science, agriculture, commerce, practical subjects, creative work and the humanities.
Use the General Science guide to compare General Science with the other options at SHASS.

Facilities
SHASS has received continued investment in classrooms and residential infrastructure as enrolment has grown.
A Ghana News Agency report documented a new 10-unit classroom block built to ease congestion, while district planning documents have also recorded investment in girls' dormitory accommodation.
Student Life
Student life at SHASS includes sport, clubs, leadership, cultural activities and the routines that come with a mixed day-and-boarding school.
The school's motto, Dzin Pa Sen Ahonya, places a strong value on a good name and character, not only examination results.
Accommodation
Shama Senior High runs day and boarding arrangements. Day students leave after school activities, while SHASS boarders continue with meals and evening study on campus.
When your SHASS placement arrives, look for the part that says day or boarding.
