About Swedru Senior High
Swedru Senior High, widely known as SWESCO, opened in 1959 as the first Ghana Education Trust school established under the post-independence programme to expand secondary education.
The school started with 187 students and developed into a large mixed day-and-boarding school. Its motto, Semper Cum Optimis, means "Always With the Best."
SWESCO gives students a choice of Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics and Visual Arts; the programme pages set out the subjects in each one.

History
SWESCO was established in 1959 as the first Ghana Education Trust school created under President Kwame Nkrumah's expansion of secondary education.
A Graphic Online history records an initial enrolment of 187 students and explains the school's mission around quality education, moral character and responsible citizenship.
The school developed in Agona Swedru, an area whose economy was strongly connected to cocoa farming, giving more local families access to secondary education.
SWESCO's foundation makes sense when you see it as part of a national effort to bring secondary education closer to communities that had previously had fewer options.
Academics
The current school register lists Agricultural Science, Business, Home Economics, Visual Arts, General Arts and General Science at SWESCO.
Six programmes give students several directions, but the day-to-day experience changes significantly depending on the electives and practical work attached to each one.
The subjects within Business are set out in the Business guide; check them before choosing SWESCO.
Admissions & Entry Guidance
Include Swedru Senior High in your school choices when you apply after BECE. Check whether the SWESCO programmes (Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics and Visual Arts) include the subjects you want.
Past SWESCO cut-offs may be useful for comparison, but do not rely on them as a fixed admission mark.
SWESCO has day and boarding students, but your placement will say which applies to you. Read it on the CSSPS website.
School placement is managed through CSSPS.
Facilities
SWESCO has continued to rely on both public investment and old-student support to improve classrooms, furniture, staff accommodation and student welfare facilities.
During the school's 67th anniversary, alumni year groups handed over a range of projects, including hundreds of desks and other learning-support items.
Student Life
Old students often use the Piesie identity, and alumni involvement is one of the most visible parts of the SWESCO community.
Students also take part in sport, clubs, academic competition, leadership and practical activities across the school year.
The motto Semper Cum Optimis sets a demanding standard, but its useful interpretation is not that every student must already be the best. It is that you are expected to keep reaching for better work, stronger character and more serious effort.
Accommodation
Swedru Senior High runs day and boarding arrangements. Day students leave after school activities, while SWESCO boarders continue with meals and evening study on campus.
Your SWESCO placement will tell you whether you are joining as a boarder or a day student.
