History

Techiman Senior High was established in 1963 under the Ghana Education Trust school programme.

A Ghana News Agency report from the school's 60th anniversary records that TESS opened on 1 November 1963 with about 71 students.

The school was part of a national effort to expand secondary education across the country. Local advocates and the Techiman Traditional Council also helped it develop.

TESS began at a moment when Ghana was rapidly building new second-cycle schools, and its growth mirrors the much wider expansion of access that followed.

Facilities

TESS has continued to receive infrastructure improvements as its student population has grown.

The Techiman Municipal Assembly has documented projects at the school including a two-storey 12-unit classroom block and a large dining-hall project.

More recent municipal inspections have also covered classroom and staff-accommodation projects on the TESS campus.

Student Life

TESS students take part in sport, debates, academic competitions and other activities alongside formal lessons.

The school has participated in the National Science and Maths Quiz and has a long sporting tradition. Anniversary activities have also included clean-up exercises, health screening, games and community events.

That combination gives students different ways to develop confidence, teamwork and responsibility outside examination preparation.
