About West Africa Senior High
West Africa Senior High School started in Tudu in 1946 as the West Africa College of Commerce. Rev. J. C. Tettey and Emmanuel Addo founded it with a small first group of students before the school entered the public system and moved through several parts of Accra.
Its eventual home became Adenta, where WASS developed into a mixed day-and-boarding school serving students from across Greater Accra and beyond. The motto, "Faith, Industry, Wisdom," brings together belief, hard work and judgement in three simple words.
The options at WASS are Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics and Visual Arts; compare their subjects on the programme pages.

History
West Africa Senior High was founded in 1946 by Rev. J. C. Tettey and Emmanuel Addo. It began in Tudu as the West Africa College of Commerce with only a handful of students.
A Graphic Online history traces the school's movement from Tudu to other parts of Accra before its eventual relocation to Adenta.
The school became government-assisted in 1954 and later took the secondary-school identity generations of students now recognise as WASS.
The school did not grow in one place. Its history is a chain of moves, each one carrying the same school into a larger stage of its development.
Academics
The academic options at West Africa Senior High cover Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts, General Science, Home Economics and Visual Arts.
Six programmes give you plenty of choice, but they also make it easy to focus too much on the school name and not enough on the actual subjects. The programme you select will shape your electives, practical work and later admission options.
Before choosing Business at WASS, read the Business guide and check the subject mix.

Use the CSSPS website to see your WASS result and whether the place is for a day student or a boarder.
School placement is managed through CSSPS.
Facilities
WASS operates as a mixed day-and-boarding school, so teaching spaces are only one part of the infrastructure students use. Dining, sanitation, security, accommodation and gathering spaces also affect the rhythm of the campus.
A Ghana News Agency report documented an old-student donation of dining-table sets after the school identified a shortage in the canteen.
Student Life
WASS has an active old-student community through WASSOSA, and different year groups continue to support students with equipment, furniture and mentoring.
A Graphic Online report records alumni donating photocopiers and a digital piano to support teaching and school activities.
Clubs, sport, music, leadership and academic competition create other ways for students to find a place in the school community.
Accommodation
Students at West Africa Senior High may attend as day students or boarders. Those boarding at WASS stay on campus during the term.
If you get a place at WASS, check whether your placement says boarding or day.
