About Yendi Senior High School
Yendi Senior High School was established in 1970 to widen access to secondary education for students in Yendi and communities across the eastern corridor of northern Ghana.
The school began with 77 students, most of them boys, and has since grown into a large mixed day-and-boarding school. Its motto, "We Learn to Serve," links classroom learning to responsibility beyond the school gate.
Students at YESS can choose Agricultural Science, Business, General Arts, General Science and Home Economics, with the programme pages showing what each choice covers.

History
Yendi Senior High opened in 1970 under the leadership of C. B. A. Teviu. The first intake consisted of 77 students, including 70 boys and seven girls.
A published history of the school places YESS within a much longer educational story in Yendi and records the motto "We Learn to Serve."
The school developed into an important mixed secondary school serving Yendi and neighbouring districts, particularly communities for whom older schools in the south were much farther away.
YESS grew around a practical regional need: bring secondary education closer to families in the eastern corridor instead of making distance another barrier to schooling.
Academics
The current school register lists Agricultural Science, Business, Home Economics, General Arts and General Science at Yendi Senior High.
The five programmes give students several routes into tertiary study and training without including every option available in Ghanaian senior high schools.
The Agricultural Science guide shows what students study in that option at YESS.

Facilities
Yendi Senior High has expanded its classroom and boarding facilities as the student population has grown.
A Ghana News Agency report documented the handover of a 12-classroom block intended to reduce congestion, alongside completed dormitory accommodation and additional classroom projects.
Student Life
Students at YESS take part in sport, clubs, leadership and academic activities alongside formal lessons.
The old-student association, YOSA, continues to connect former students to the school. A GNA report describes alumni efforts to support the school and strengthen its contribution to northern Ghana and the country.
That connection gives current students a visible example of what the motto can mean after graduation.
Accommodation
Both day students and boarders attend Yendi Senior High School. At YESS, boarders remain on campus after lessons while day students travel home.
